Surfer fights off Great White

OK OK! I will stop focusing on Australia aquatic news, but this was a pretty cool story that I found via Divester.

Enjoying Father's Day with his children and a surfing friend around Eyre Peninsula, Jake Heron's surf time was cut short 10 meters from shore when a 4 meter Great White attacked him. The shark reportedly knocked Heron off and then bit his surf board before pulling Heron under. The 40-year-old surfer fought the shark by punching it in its gills. Moments later a large wave washed Heron away from the shark and up on the rocky shore.

The shark bit through the crayfisherman's wetsuit and left him with damage to his right arm and thigh.

While fighting off the shark helped, Heron was pretty lucky for nature to intervene. Nice combination when your will to live is accepted by mother nature.

Pretty incredible.
